What is it this season with those incredibly small storms? Bonnie, Charlie, Jeanne, now Karl, all had miniscule core.

Luckily Karl appears to be well offshore not affecting anyone. But this is certainly the year for major hurricanes and we got October and November yet to come.

I predicted 5 for the season

this year could produce near record Major count

1950 (8)
1961 (7)
1955, 1964, 1996 (6)

I predicted 4..

Alex, Charley, Frances, Ivan, Karl,

and I believe Danielle was 1 too.. or pretty close..

that's already 5 or 6 majors

At the beginning my forecast was seeing as too extreme, as right now I think my forecast will be busted.

MY FORECAST: 16 TS, 8 H, 4 M.H.

SO FAR: 11 TS, 7 H*, 4 M.H. (WITHOUT COUNTING KARL)

* = I still believe Gaston was a hurricane when it made landfall, that image with that clear eye was impressive for a tropical storm.
