BTW, the photos I posted were sent to me from a local NWS forecaster...

There's something amiss about those pix.

How can a plane with props fly so high as to see the entire eye like that? I mean, they almost seem to have been taken from about 100000 feet or something!

Perhaps I'm wrong...

I was about to say that I hated to rain on someones parade BUT...pic 2 and 3 are not IVan...wasn't sure about the others...but I know pic 2/3 is not.

How do I know? I have a board up at work where I post great weather pics / sat photos...etc...and pic 2 is on my board and has been for over a month.

So...unless Ivan had the exact same shot taken...exact same aircraft and exact same everything...it ain't him.

A lot of those photos look very familiar, like I have seen them a couple months ago.

Anyway, are there any actual videos instead of pictures of flying into the eye. I want to the the eyewall dynamics in action, not just still.

Yeah, that's what I was noticing. Looks like the source where I got those pointed me in the wrong direction. Oh well -- this happens

That isn't the entire eye. It looks more like a mesovortex.
