Capital Punishment

#1 Postby azsnowman » Fri Apr 04, 2003 10:51 pm

I can't remember if I've posted this before or not, DANG *CRS* anyways

Anyways, do you believe in capital punishment? Me.....YOU BET your bippy I do, we need to bring back the *Justice of the Old West* HANG 'EM HIGH! Hell, that's the problem with the society today, you can commit murder, serve 5-10 years and walk away scott free :grr: Take for instance, 3 (correct me if I'm wrong Azskyman on the # of years) years ago a woman down in Apache Junction, took her 8 year old daughter out to the desert, made her lay down, put a bullet in the back of her head :grr: She was JUST released from the State Mental Hospital this past week, her shrink said, "She is now ready to become a functioning member of society now, she has paid her debt to the state!" B.S. :grr: She commited MURDER in the 1st degree, she said she did this because God told her too, she bore her daughter out of wedlock and this would sit her daughter free. God that made me sick, they interviewed her ex husband and he was, to say the least, horrified....to know his daughters killer was back on the street. Like I said, HANG 'EM HIGH, no questions asked, your guilty until proven innocent in my book, see.....I wouldn't make a good full time cop, I'd be in DEEEEEEEP poo-poo if I was, heck, I have a hard enough time being a part time deputy doing drug searches :P

I favor capital punishment, though only in the case of treason (except during war time in cases tried via military tribunal). Treason is the most serious offense; thus, it deserves the most serious punishment

As an ex-cop, the loyal membership may see my view as somewhat "prejudicial"...but I've seen too damn many murderers, violent rapists, etc. escape the laws of the land in my time, due to some BS about everything from "absent parental figure" to "diminished capacity to differentiate between right and wrong", and all the usual psychobabble.

The Constitution guarantees a speedy trail, with punishment commensurate with the crime...commit murder, and you should forfeit your life (save in self-defense). Period.

Yes..I do agree with capitol punishment--especially for henious crimes committed against children, women, and the elderly; as well as for terrorists, traitors, and those who murder law enforcement officers.

I'm in favor of capital punishment as well. I do support the use of DNA testing for people convicted before these methods were available to prove or disprove that their convictions were justified. The real abomination in our legal system is the "appeal forever" system which keeps convicted killers alive for years. There should be some reasonable limit on appeals!

As far as the method of execution, I'm not a fan of "lethal injection". The death penalty should carry a horrific ending for those convicted. As far as I'm concerned bring back public hanging! The message should be very clear. if you do the crime the consequences will be a violent and painfull end! :grrr:

Capital Punishment and public executions.

Seriously, though, yes, although I am concerned about people wrongly convicted that were recently cleared by modern DNA analysis.
