PLZ Explain- What is goin on w/ JEANNE?

#1 Postby greg lampkin » Sat Sep 18, 2004 4:29 pm

I'm new to Storm 2k, so plz excuse my ignorance! I've been monitoring this board through just about every storm or hurricane that is close to or threatening The Bahamas. However, Jeanne has me baffled - as well as (it appears)a number of you more experiecned folks! At 2pm Jeanne seemed to be history. I was going to stop monitoring it every 3 hours, but boredom caused me to check again at the last advisory (5pm). Am I seeing/understanding correctly? Jeanne has formed a new center and is still a storm to be watched? It is falling apart or what? and what is this loop-de-loop thing?

some models are predicting it going north then stalling and then possobly doing a 360 because of a strong ridge to its north blocking its exit. Some storms have been known to do this, but I believe the longest was Fredric back a few years ago, and it did several loops before it went out to sea.

As long as a storm is over water and has a LLC it needs to be watched. Most make it easy to see where they are going. Some like Jeanne give forecasters premature grey hair.
