Need help for stranded evacuee

#1 Postby Us 2 cajuns » Sat Sep 18, 2004 6:48 pm

My daughter is trying to return home to Pensacola from Orlando. Has anyone made the trip and know what roads are open from Tallahasee(most likely spelled incorrectly) to Pensacola?

The Escambia bridge was washed out on I-10. So, she will not be able to get in to P'Cola on 10.

I am aware that the I-10 is out...looking for alternate routes.

Call the TV or radio station. I know our local TV station was giving back road directions for pensacola people coming home from Northern or Central Alabama or people who would normally take I65 home.

You can always take Highway 90 which parallels I-10. That'd be the most direct way to go.

Also, one of the mapping web pages, can't remember which one, used to have a feature allowing you to choose state highways or the like rather than interstates.

My suggestion would be to just take the detour...I am sure the the FL hwy patrol could tell you a way around. I know that HWY 90 is still open, she should able to get off the interstate and take 90.
