"Ivanna" - the ex-wife of Ivan. Hope that she doesn't get too large of a settlement!

:roflmao:

Yep he earned that nick too, "The Terrible." Funny how even with Jeanne and Karl in the Atlantic Ivan manages to stay in the spotlight.

Maybe Ivan has some "unfinished business" -- I shudder to think what :x

Yes, Ivanova, I do know what it means in Russian. But can you tell me why this is so? Spasibo.

I think its basically the fact that Ivan scared the living #$@# out of pretty much everyone with how intense and how unpredictable he was.... he became...much more entertaining/intruiging than, say, Jeanne, Karl, etc....at least for more people..and this now, its icing on the cake!

The storm will be given the same name because it is the same entity.

Goluboi [pale blue] is Russian slang for homosexual.

So, a reference to "blue people" in Russia would refer
to homosexuals.

And can you tell me why "blue" and not "purple" or "orange"?

In very derrogatory Spanish, gay/homosexual is the same word as the letter "j" in the alphabet. At least that's what I hear. Curious-- I have no idea why.

Er, back on subject guys and gals.

I see no way Ivan's remnants would go S and SW to the GOM. It just doesn't seem plausible.

Then again, a lot of things have happened this cane season that have seemed implausible.

I'm not buying it either. Seems pretty far-fetched.

But then, a loooong time ago (what, last week?) it seemed far-fetched that Ivan would go to the GOM the first time-- and I was wrong about that. So you never know!

Does anybody know when remnants are no longer remnants? I mean, does anybody know the official point at which we no longer consider Ivan alive?

Not all that far fetched actually. If you look at this water vapor loop:
http://mkwc.ifa.hawaii.edu/satellite/sa ... verlay=off
You'll see that a piece of Ivan's remnants has split off from the portion that took off northeast (to the classic hurricane "graveyard" in the north Atlantic) and is steadily working its way to the south around the periphery of the high in the east. At its current rate of speed, I would guess that it will be back around northwest Florida around Monday afternoon and should continue on a west movement for the next 3 or 4 days as long as that high remains in place.

I sure don't think its freakout time for rapid development of the so-called "ghost of Ivan" particularly in the Gulf east of 90W, as SSTs have been significantly lowered (to sub-80 degree levels in many cases) and there is very dry stable air in place. However, once past 90W the SSTs are much warmer, similar to the temps in the eastern Gulf before Ivan came through. In any case, if the remants are still holding together at that point, any potential for development would hinge on what, if any, available moisture there is to work with by that time in the western Gulf.

The WV loop shows anticyclonic rotation in that (diminishing) moisture, though. Not cyclonic. So I wouldn't expect any redevelopment.

As long as Ivan's structure remains, redevelopment over the Atlantic Basin is possible.

Jb talked yesterday about it, and the models are hinting at it now. Wow now Texas might get in on the action....LOL.

Dr. Steve Lyons just mentioned the models were picking up on the remnants coming back down and going across the Florida Peninsula into the GOM.

People have been talking about this on here for several days.
