Charleycat, in case you misunderstood that message and were serious about it being a cat 5, that 925 pressure is not at the surface. I believe the Sea Level Pressure is extrapolated in the message to be 994 MB.

I think you just read the wrong thing.

Believe it or not, at one time, Jeanne might have been, at the least, sub-tropical after the ULL moved over the system and the old LLC left the convection behind, while the new center developed closer to the convection ... if anything, last night, and this morning, on satellite imagery, Jeanne definitely "appeared" more subtropical, than tropical due to a baroclinic nature of the sustainment of convection ...

Jeanne will no doubt now regain 100% tropical characteristics (if it hasn't done so already) ... and MAY become a CAT 2 or CAT 3 down the road ...

Yep. And I hope Jeanne stays away from the US if it DOES become a CAT 2 down the road by any chance...
