So, "I'm not Ivan"

#1 Postby Us 2 cajuns » Sun Sep 19, 2004 9:24 pm

Local Met on Fox news said that the area off the coast of Florida is not Ivan...but it is a "deposit" that Ivan left off the coast. It is projected to come into the GOM as a low and have significant rain in the New Orelans area on Wednesday and Thursday. He also added that he is concerned because the way that things have been going this year, the low may develop into something.

According the some post-analysis maps ... Ivan is no more. Ivan became extratropical and moved well off to the NE, but leaving a piece behind at the 500mb level (vort max) which is now sliding SW towards FL ... still some very cool air behind and would have to fight off, 1) modified polar air 2) very low levels of moisture availability ...

Ok. So the mess-o-weather that's going to cross FL east to west is POI - piece of Ivan.

"DEPOSIT" That's what he said (The met). He reiterated that it was not Ivan's remanence. I'm just a spectator here...not sure how a tropical system "DEPOSITS" anything...LOL

Meteorologists, both professional and amatuer alike, still have a reason to consider
this feature left by Ivan's parent system beings that it is a "deposit" of the system.

I feel it should be referred to as such giving the chances it may have to develop
during the week.
