NOLA met about Ivan's remnants

#1 Postby HollynLA » Mon Sep 20, 2004 7:15 am

This am, D. Bernard said that Ivan's remnants are crossing FL today and will enter the gulf heading towards the TX/LA areas on Wed/Thurs. He also said that it could possibly reform into a tropical storm while in the gulf. Is anyone else saying the same thing? Just curious because they said it will get breezy/windy on those days as well.

Mets around here are saying that it is just some tropical moisture and that it probably will increase our chances of rainfall. Nothing is mentioned about development of any kind.

Just an inch or two of rain here from this would be nice. The exposed ground is beginning to severely spider vein, while many established plants and trees are showing some signs of stress from a month and a half of no rain and 90 degree + temps.

I have a feeling however, that it will remain too far to the south to be of much benefit.
Crazy what a difference 150 miles can make when you look at what has happened to the south Alabama/northwest Florida area. That being said, I'll take a drought over mass destruction in a heartbeat.

Wish we could get some of that moisture up this way... we need it bad!

The Weather Channel said that it would be weak. The Weather Service said it would most likely head to Texas and that Louisana would some rain. The highest chances of rain is 40% Thursday through Friday.

That is based on this NOT becoming more than a weak
TD or TS. I would not be surprised if he became more than
just that.
