No wonder I was so confused, with Wunderground calling it Lisa and the NHC still calling it TD 13 on their webpage...I didn't realize the 8 am advisory was out and NHC was lagging behind on the web update. *smacks self and digs around for some caffeine*

Yep. I think the 45mph gusts is a misprint though. Still a pretty big jump for 3 hours, mainyl due to the fact they got the visible back now.

There is no 8 AM advisory for this system as it is well away from any land.Every 6 hours the advisorys are issued for this system until there are watches posted.

Ever have those days where you need to just go back to bed and start over? Yeah, this is one of them. :)

Why does the wunderground page have an 8 am stamp with the 50 mph winds?

the 8 AM package was a special advisory to upgrade Tropical Depression 13 to Tropical Storm Lisa and to update the intensity forecast due to the satellite presentation on the first visible images. I admit cycloneye that normally NHC would have just issued an update for this situation.

May be the circunstances of this season made the NHC changes a little bit, that explain the 8am advisory just to inform that a new star was born LISA.

the tpc put out a discussion on lisa at 8:00 because they didn't have visable sat. untill then.

Ah, but there is in this case:

Note the "SPECIAL" heading...

Looks like the morning shift got in and said "What the heck is this?"

I don't think Matthew is a good name for a storm. Naming it after one of Christ's disciples gives it too much of a biblical armageddon feel.

Either in the Gulf of Mexico (unless they rename it Ivan, since that's what it is), or off the coast of Africa.

seems like things are really heating up AGAIN. ::sigh:: Although it has been nice to actually get some sleep the last few days due to no immediate threat, I'm sure within the next week we'll have at LEAST one storm to keep us up to all hours of the night.

Furthermore, would Ivan technically be renamed? I've heard that the actual Low itself is part of Ivan, but the convection,etc. had moved off into Canada...anyone know more about this and the technicalities involved?
