SEVEN TROPICAL CYCLONES FORMED DURING AUGUST. IN ADDITION...
ALEX...WHICH FORMED AT THE END OF JULY...REACHED TROPICAL STORM AND HURRICANE STRENGTH IN AUGUST. THE TOTAL OF EIGHT TROPICAL CYCLONES REACHING STORM STRENGTH IS A NEW AUGUST RECORD...BREAKING THE PREVIOUS RECORD OF SEVEN SET IN 1933 AND 1995. THE EIGHT NAMED STORMS THAT HAVE FORMED SO FAR IN 2004 IS TWICE THE NORMAL NUMBER OF 4.

I think he was speaking generically. WE have already reached the "peak" of hurricane season so activity should begin to slow down. Well, I think it has to slow down. We can't keep going at this pace for the entire season. We'l all be loonies by the end of the season (not to say some of us aren't now).

Pretty ironic Hazel is an H storm, only the 8th storm of that season, we already have 12 this season.
