While we're focused on the 94L part of Ivan...

...the United Kingdom is monitoring the other part of Ivan.

Looks like transition season is well under way and the pressure gradient is only getting tighter. Looks like wet, windy conditions are in store for the UK and Central Europe for quite a while.

Yes, in the above suface map... Nathan (northwest of Portugal and Spain/west-southwest
of England and Ireland) and Michael (over Russia) are the high pressure systems.

Yes, the German's name both their lows and highs. Actually, the University in Berlin sponsors a program where people can "buy" a slot and pick their own name. Some TV stations will use that name when talking about systems.
