Today September 21 and thankfully it weakened before it crossed the islands from a strong cat 4 to a 2/3 range when it made landfall in Puerto Rico.

It hit Mississippi, not Louisiana.

I remember it. I faintly remember it coming through the Keys as well(the Friday before it hit MS). I drew weather maps during class the whole time it was out there.

We were evacuated here. Then it turned further west and missed us. Thats when Florida was still lucky

Georges made landfall in Biloxi, MS. I was in the NE quad here in Pascagoula. Lots of damage.

Yeah, I think I was in the eye for what seemed like 3 hours or so... went outside and actually cut my grass during the eye... we never got any winds out of the south in Biloxi, and a max surge of about 8 feet.... Pascagoula and Gautier got hit a lot harder than us being in the eastern quad...

Gautier actually experienced the calm from the eye. My sister called from there and it was calm and the winds were still howling 7 miles from her. lol.
