Last year a couple of systems moved over us east to west and through the Gulf. I think one was Claudette and became a substantial hurricane. They seemed to have much more energy than this one as they passed overhead.

We'll see if the GOM SST's can cook this one up...

We've been calling this mess "the spawn of Ivan" here in northern Palm Beach county. Very squally with lots of rain. 6-8" reported since yesterday.

One of the Mets here in Corpus mentioned it was a breakaway part form Ivan. but did nothing to suggest it would develop. Just a good chance of heavy rain that would collide with a cold front

Here, I've just heard about a chance of rain over the weekend (which is all I'm anticipating). It's breezy here right now.

Yeah, it's very breezy here in Houston. I wonder if that is a sign of things to come. Oddly when Ivan was in the Gulf and headed towards MS, I had this strange feeling that Houston would be affected by a Storm named Matthew. A week later that possibility exist. If this comes into fruition that's pretty scary.

Just rain...I'm praying it's just rain.

Looks like the 2nd Annual Lone Star Bike Rally will be wet this year.
