These are some of the images that I took around Mobile, Gulf Shores, Gulf Breeze and Pensacola over the first few days after Ivan made landfall

Stu--

Thanks for sharing... I think. For some reason, the pictures are now getting harder to look at. Perhaps the realization that it really happened is setting in. All those places in the pictures are so familiar to me because I've lived here all my life. Gulf Shores and Gulf Breeze are places I've visited many, many times. Unfortunately, I can't really recognize some of the places in those pictures because they bear no resemblance to any place I remember. So far, I've heard from two friends who have families in Gulf Shores who lost their homes and their jobs. Also, another friend's restaurant on the Eastern Shore (of Mobile Bay) is out of business for at least two months-- if they can last that long.

Ivan was truly terrible! (Sorry, just a little down these days...)

What a sad, sad, day for so many! Thank you for sharing the pictures with us all! That is very interesting about the bomb that washed up! The storefront with the sharks head looks like it was a neat place!

Yes the bomb was an interesting aspect - actually I have now heard of three such devices that were washed up at Gulf Breeze - all from the Pensacola Naval base as the area was used as a firing range. I am lead to belive that our shell was anit- aricraft and it still had the timer fitted!

Is Lake Shelby draining into the Gulf like it appears in the pics?
