Poor thing. Guess his freedom was fun while it lasted.

My feelings exactly Linda. I hope he did enjoy what little freedom he had. If he hadn't been kept in a zoo in the first place, he could have ridden this storm out and not harmed anyone.

The link expired, so I could not follow it.

Did they catch Chucky alive? Is he unharmed? Or did they shoot him or something?

I didn't see the link, but it sounds like they found him alive. I feel bad for Chucky! :(

OMG - an old acquaintance and local, Tim Williams, caught Chucky. Tim is a total hoot and let my daughter shadow him at Gatorland (Orlando) one day.

Tim has many funny animal stories, including those when he and pals are to appear on TV shows in NYC and take the wild critters to stay in hotels there.

I'm sure the capture of Chucky will land Tim and team on TV again. They can use the attention. I understand that Charley and Frances caused quite a problem at Gatorland.

So glad they are not destroying Chucky like the usually do with gators.

It's my understanding that Chucky ended up in the zoo to begin with because he had developed a taste for dog at a nearby park. Zoo is a far better fate than what normally awaits "nuisance gators" that start eating what they shouldn't.

Mixed emotions on Chucky. Feel bad that he's back being penned up instead of free ... but feel good that he's still alive. More often than not the answer is to simply kill the creature because its too difficult or inconvenient to catch them.

I too have mixed feeling about this, as I hate the thought of Chucky being caged up, but am glad he was not shot like they did to some others. It saddens me that a zoo in an area that has a high risk for this type of disaster does not have a way to protect all the animals they house including those that can swim. Hopefully this will result in them looking at a better evacuation plan for all the animals. One that will have a better ending than having to kill some of them.
