YankeeGirl wrote:Well, I have noticed that the winds here have been a little gusty all day... The local met on Fox kept calling it a depression this morning on the news... Go figure... We do need the rain... The local met on Channel 2 said we have a 50/50 shot of it turning into something... My daughters 1st birthday party is on Sunday... I really dont want muddy shoes walking on my freshly cleaned carpets!! :)

I dont remember Alicia, cause i wasnt here then, but I do remember Allison... We lived in Sugarland, didnt see much rain at all...

In beautiful Cypress Texas, the winds are out of the E at 4 mph with gusts up to 16.

We Texans/Western GOMers must be pretty starved for tropical weather action if we can merit 4 pages on a thread about an "invest."

It's been a while, but I think we would get just as active posting if we thought we had a had a shot at 2-3"'s of rain. I echo the previous post about getting tired of high water bills. Mine has been over 150 the last 2 months. Name it whatever you want, as long as s/he doesn't blow too hard ( Alicia) or over stay their welcome (Alison).

Are we just talkin Galveston area? Cause otherwise we have also got Carla, Beulah, Celia, Allen, and a hit via Mexico from Gilbert.

Theory still holds tho... early season storms.

But 2004 is in a world of it's own.

True. Think Frances was mentioned upstream somewhere...

NHC says there were 36 hits on Texas between 1900 and 1996. I don't think we need to list 'em all :D but ...this year the storms are being named fast and early so it's harder to compare.

3:05 p.m. forecast update from wunderground...

#97 Postby Houstonia » Wed Sep 22, 2004 3:34 pm

looks like rain!

Now
Through 430 PM...showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop mainly along and west of a line from Freeport to Rosenberg to Bellville. A line of showers and storms extends offshore from Freeport out to near 100 nautical miles along a westward moving boundary. This activity will slowly move northwestward towards the Matagorda Bay area through the afternoon...moving west to northwest at around 15 to 20 mph...introducing brief downpours with rainfall rates of near 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch per hour. Expect increased winds and waves...as well as frequent lightning...in the Gulf waters out to 60 nautical miles from Freeport to Port O Connor. Greater accumulations in excess of 1/2 inch will likely be in western Brazoria...Matagorda...Colorado...Jackson...and Wharton counties through 500 PM.

They are basically right over the llc now, and considering there is an obvious surface circulation, a vortex will be issued soon.
