What a season this has turned out to be

#1 Postby hurricanefreak1988 » Wed Sep 22, 2004 5:01 pm

Who would've thought it would get this good just 2 months ago. I knew the cold streak would eventually end and we'd get a little action, but I never saw this coming. This season has turned out to be better than 2003. Since those 2 months of darkness, we've had at least one cyclone active EVERY week. Wow. And guess what: we're from from done. Could this be the year that the entire list is used up? If it keeps up at this pace, it will be. Wouldn't that be cool. Way to go Atlantic, you've made a lot of us here eat enough crow to last for years.

Also, check out Jeanne. Is she the one? Will she end the five-year wait for Fayetteville? It sure looks like there's a great chance for that to happen. Like we always do with the tropics, we'll just have to wait and see...

Oh, and how about Ivan. I would've loved for him to be named a new storm just to up the score but it's OK. This is too amazing of a story to miss out on. Wow! :P

If you'd notice I said FIVE-YEAR-WAIT, lol

I went through Fran, Bonnie, and Floyd at a young age. When your 8, 10, and 11 (respectively), going through hurricanes AT NIGHT is not a fun experience. Now that I'm older and want some action, I can't get it. Does that blow or what

I recall my daughter at 16 belly sliding thru water holes in housing at Ft Bragg during Fran. She thought it was fun and was looking forward to more. Now, no way at all. They are not equiped to handle a hurricane. Even on Bragg we had no electric for over 5 days.

And Ivan is bringing us a present here in Louisiana. He WANTS to visit the French Quarter while business is going on and how else to top off tonight without getting named a Tropical Storm after a few drinks on Bourbon Street. Hey, at least everyone will be home this time.

Ivan says, "You can run, but you can't hide!"

We lived in Bouganville housing. Had just moved there. 5 Kids, hubbie was in the Q at the time. not much fun for me. Have pics of kids(the whole neighborhood) with 6 kiddie pools, a boombox playing (OMG) the Macarena over and over and lots of koolaide. The Burger King on post was wonderful, donated alot of food to our little block. Seems we were not in the middle of the housing area so for some reason they could not get the electric going. Kids had a blast sliding in the grass. Like a gigantic slip and slide. Now daughter is older and is calling freaking out. LOL
But it seriously was not much fun and Fayettenam is definitly NOT equipped to handle anything like this again. It is something I would never wish on my worst enemy. As for those who look forward to, they have no idea since they were much to young to realize the enormous impact. As for 5 years ago LMAO OHOHOH..... that was nothing. We actually went out to the "Paliminer" that night and drove thru the storm.
82nd ABN hoooaahhh........hahaha
