What you are not being told about Ivan

#1 Postby Ivanova » Wed Sep 22, 2004 6:53 pm

Personal info:

Someone with FEMA [who will remain unnamed]
has recently returned from the Ivan disaster areas
He says the devastation is much worse than the
American public is being told by the media.

You have GOT to be kidding. Not that the destruction wasn't horrible; it was, but if the public thinks that all of those news organizations running up and down the coast to get at just the right point for landfall are now suppressing the news, then then Ivan hit the wrong continent!

Why would they? The Public loves a good drama! Rating, ratings, ratings...

I smell a locked thread coming up...

Please stop spreading rumors around the internet (this actually goes for everyone on the internet....)....it just adds frustration and confusion (IE the guy who reported that Andrew had 350 MPH winds...caused Nuclear Devastation across S FL....etc.)

I live in Pensacola and Gulf Breeze and TRUST ME...from what I have heard from personal relatives and friends...everything matches up....Pcola Beach, Perdido Key is screwed...the Esc Bay Bridge is out...Pensacola has the worst damage it has seen since the 1926 Hurricane....and Gulf Breeze has many buildings with extreme structual damage.

Well, just from what I have seen on tv, I know it's a full scale disaster....IMO Ivan is the most destructive landfalling hurricane on the northern Gulf coast since Camille.

I personally believe when all the damage is added up, the toll will be second only to hurricane Andrew. As for number of fatalities, we may never know with certainty how many died folks that night....because some who unwisely stayed on barrier islands were probably washed away...to never be seen again. To this day, 68 people are still listed as missing from hurricane Camille...bodies that were never found :(

There are rumors of a conspiracy in the Caymans to downplay the disastor. Been readin about since Ivan trampled through there.

The damage in that region is extremely bad and when the time comes if it's as bad as the official from FEMA claims that it is, it will be made public sooner or later ... I don't sense this thread is going to go too well so this one gets locked and rested ...
