RECCO confirmed. If they call this Ivan...I give up.

ummmm...no.

Just commenting RECCO confirmed TS.

But while often accused of shilling for TPC, I find "naming" this Ivan to be unscientific and inaccurate.

Do you mean Ivan will be a tropical storm at 11? It still retains the name of Ivan, even though it is a tropical depression - that is standard @ the NHC. The new vortex does confirm flight level winds that support an official tropical storm. I just didn't read that out of your original message.

After reading the discussion...I sense it was certianly not unanimous to call it Ivan....

AFTER CONSIDERABLE AND SOMETIMES ANIMATED IN-HOUSE DISCUSSION OF THE DEMISE OF IVAN...

Official TS at 11 was my only point.

Rarely have I been this irritated at TPC (certain Mayfield is moved by my angst  )

Precidence...yes. Taking a TC down to a TD or even a wave then same name back to a TC...certainly.

But the center opened and washed out with a piece closing off and ultimately begetting this TC. NOT the same as a downgraded tropical wave regenerating another TC.

Horrific logistics problem not to mention confusing an already chagrined public. I don't believe this is good science and damn sure isn't good policy.
