What ever happened to hurricane watches?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

What ever happened to hurricane watches?

#1 Postby Greg » Wed Sep 22, 2004 10:47 pm

And warnings? Jeanne's outflow is almost clouding the Bahamas sky, and yet there is no official watch or warning. IIRC they had a warning for the keys before Ivan even hit Cuba.

It seems they're counting too much on her tuning on a dime and picking it up.

Greg, I agree. Go to the RAMSDIS online real time satellite loop and you can see that Jeanne continues to head SW. She'll have to make one helluva turn.

Exactly! And thats if she even makes it to the Bahamas bringing hurricane conditions. people seem to forget to easily systems such as Isabel, Floyd, etc which basically almost did the same thing by stopping and then turning to the north.

Trust me these people at TPC do know what they are doing as does the Govts down in the Bahamas.
