Not particularly impressive, but, nevertheless, there is the old beast in familiar territory! Looks like New Orleans will receive some blow off rain from the wind sheer later tonight, if it holds together. http://www.srh.noaa.gov/radar/loop/DS.p ... klix.shtml

Is it just me, or is Ivan not making progress past 90W? Sure looks to be riding up the 90 line. Rain has stopped here, but the main band of rain does look to still be making progress northward.

It looked more Northwest than WNW to me all day today. I did not say anything because with a sheared system it is hard to tell. However, looking at the only two Recon fixes it was moving Northwest between fixes.

Yeah I agree, it surely not WNW. You really have to fight hard to ignore the convection, but just looking at the circulation center, it just does not look to me like it has passed 90W.

Looking at the Long Base Radar Loop before it looked like all the rain was moving North now you can see that the banding features are becoming more visible.

OK, I checked out a few other sites where you can see the LLC better. It's more NW than WNW to me, but again it's very hard to tell. Good thing for recon, huh? :)

Yeah, that first wave of heavier rain is getting pretty close to the coast of Jefferson Parish down near Grand Isle.

That shows the center clearly Southeast of both locations.

I believe that Ivan is moving towards the NW, as well. For now, it appears that we may be looking at a SW Louisiana landfall, as opposed to a Texas landfall.
