Very Bad News for FL 11 PM NHC Discussion

They are also increasing the strength to 95kt or borderline Cat2/3 in 72 hours when landfall may happen.

Most of the global models...as well as
the consensus and the FSU superensemble are now bringing Jeanne
near or over the Florida East Coast in about 3 days. Even the
GFS...which previoulsy turned Jeanne northward before reaching
Florida...is now bringing the hurricane over the peninsula. I was
tempted to shift the official forecast farther westward...but
because it is important to keep continuity...only a little westward
shift is indicated at this time.
Given the forecast of the steering currents...Florida should pay
close attention to the evolution of Jeanne.

Agreed and the moderators can get on me if they want but doggone it NHC show it the way the models show it. Continuity? PLease it is too close to Florida for that.

Maybe it's just me, but it looks like she's moving SW, not WSW. Could be me though. I hope not for Florida's sake.

I noticed that too. It almost looks inevitable that she's going to go under 25N now.

It appears to me that Jeanne is currently moving SW. That 25 degrees line of latitude is drawing closer.

There is some concern with the system entering the Gulf of Mexico here....we're watching fairly closely with cautious concern here in New Orleans.

Absolutely.

A coworker has had to cancel his last two business trips due to either the meeting being in an inland area affected by a hurricane (Frances) or his own evacuation (Ivan). Monday and Tuesday he is scheduled to be in Atlanta, so...we'll see.
