It will take more than a cat 2 to make me evacuate. What about all you east coasters.?

I am staying put this time. The evacuation was more dangerous than the storm. Very dangerous on the interstates. Every yacht, RV, and horse trailer was blastin out of Florida. We saw many bad accidents.

Since we have hurricane immunity in Jacksonville, I don't think we'll be going anywhere. :cheesy:
Seriously though, we are on the border of a cat 4/5 evacuation and a no-evacuation zone. I think a 3 or greater direct hit would send us inland to a friend's house, and we would for sure get there without the I-10 parking lot. If it is a lesser hurricane, we will have people from the beach moving into our house. The generator is ready to go, the batteries are still fresh from the last round, and the kids think the hurricane shutters at their school are permanent fixtures.

I am only evacuating for a 3 or worse. I don't think I'd even put up shutters for a 2 this time, except maybe on a couple of my antique windows that leak.

Even if I didn't leave, I would take some extra procautions just in case she tried to do one of those rapid intensification at the coast things bringing her up to a Cat 3.

I evacuated in '98 for fires and in '99 for Floyd. I learned about the SR 40 parking lot (6 hours for the 50 minute trip to Ocala).

We stayed for the other two this year and I don't forsee evacuating for anything other than Cat 3. I agree with the others who talk about the misery of evacuating.

I don't know how the hubby feels, but I'd rather stay put. We're so far south that I don't think we'll get much from Jeanne. Besides, I don't want to have to evac the kitties and us to his parents house unless we absolutely have to....
