It is interesting and valuable and I am sure the government will conduct a costly and widespread study ( meaning 6 people) on the impact this hurricane season has had on Floridians.
Sure, on the surface, we're jumpy. We talk about our water supply like guys at a table in Vegas playing 5 card draw. Dinner converstion now centers around convection and upper level highs. Children are tucked in with the assurance that "this one's gonna catch a troph". Now instead of being corporate downsized when you are removed from your previous responsibilities within your corporation, you have been downgraded to a category 3.
On the upside, we are learning quite a bit about longitude and latitude and that whole Election 2000 thing is going away, though Florida seems to be it's own hanging chad. . .
But, and here's where the problem is ergo the essential government funded study. There ought to be a law that hurricanes have to be named something actually frightening because hey, we have enough stress to deal with. I felt like an absolute sissy running from Hurricane Frances. Hurricane Frankie the Snitch, I'd feel good about as I scurry across the state.
And what was Charley--the Metrosexual Hurricane? Ivan was good. And now we have Jeanne. Not workin' for me. Hurricane Jack Nickelson (You want wind. YOU CAN"T HANDLE THE WIND), Hurricane James Caan (Never go against The Family), Hurricane Johnny The Fish, Hurricane Jean Claude Van Dame. . . .forget the plywood, baby, we're boardin' up with steel.
Somebody needs to tell Jeb he needs to put a call into California. Get Ahhnold in on it. Call it the Anti-Girlie Man Hurricane Proposition. Works for me.
