Darn you beat me to posting it. I was gonna say the same thing. What do you guys think this means? Does it mean that the ridge is not as strong as forecast and allow Jeanne to go more WNW instead of W?

the wobble north means very little

#8 Postby Vortex » Thu Sep 23, 2004 2:24 pm

the eye is becoming better defined and based on water vapor imagery a due west motion and maybe even abit of a wsw motion will begin in the next 6 hours...Don't focus on the wobble to the north its just that and is not significant.

Oh bummer, I'm sitting here praying Jeanne will turn and go to sea : ( I was hoping it was starting to maybe turn and keep on turning till she's gone. Cindy

Cindy, it may still turn and head north in a couple of days. What is unlikely is that it turns north now due to that huge ridge of high pressure sitting over her.

That is a very interesting north jog/maybe even jump! I find it very curious that it is doing that what with that huge and growing high pressure ridge to its north. I'm sure it cannot continue that but could certainly affect the future track

Cindy, I'm not a professional, but I see what you are seeing. I think it may be heading WNW already, regardless of the High Pressure to the north. Let's hope and pray.

Could someone tell me a good site to go
to see the high(ridge) that is effecting Jeanne?

Thanks,
Betrock

Try this site. I see Jeanne making a dent in that high pressure. Maybe she will push her way north.

Click on water vapor, loop-big and then on the TPA on the Fla map. It's a big picture so you'll probably have to scroll left and down to get to Jeanne. Ridge to the north clearly visible. If it stops building west, the storm will recurve before reaching the coast. It appears, however, to be continuing to build to the west.

It's a short term motion. Looks like the high is still building south and west.

Thanks to those that posted links. I have a clearer picture now about the movement and the blocking high. I was just having a moment of wishful thinking : ) Cindy

I saw the same thing and got hopeful...but that high pressure is still in place...so as indicated....probably just a wobble.

That northern (wobble) is clearly visible in this IR image....if anyone wants to view and hope....
