I bought my first house in FL after Andrew. You couldn't get homeowner's insurance at all. No one would write a policy in FL. The state established what was called the JUA pool, Joint Underwriters. Each homeowner paid into a state fund and then claims could be made and paid out of the state fund. Once insurance companies started writing policies again, they would pick and choose who they would insure and that person would get kicked out of the pool and forced onto a private policy. I was forced out, but fought it so I could stay in the pool. The private insurance premium was out of this world and the JUA agreed to allow me to stay until the insurance company would be more reasonable.

Anyhow, we have a live one here. Looks like the only question is when the turn occurs. I've noticed a real improvement in form once Jeanne shifted into normal east to west course...
What do you see as far as effects, over here, for us on the west coast?
