St Lucie County adminstrator announced tonight that anyone who lives in a flood zone, has property damaged by Frances, who falls into the category of "special needs", or lives in a mobile home should leave St Lucie County tonight or early tomorrow morning.
St Lucie is the only county that has not started school back after Frances because 2/3 of the schools in the county were damaged by Frances. There is no place to set up special needs shelters or any other kind of shelter.
I wonder what people who have special needs but have no transportation are going to do? We are taking in a friend from a mobile home because he has no place to go (during Frances, he traveled to his brother's house in Sarasota but during the storm, his brother unexpectedly died). But we are concerned about our own place because we already had damages that have not been repaired yet.

I think a lot of people around here are on their own this time around. Much roof damage remains from Frances, in public as well as private structures.
Shelters are opening in Martin, Indian River and PB County. Transportation could be a problem though.
And I question the structural integrety of some of the buildings.
Looks like I'm "hunkerin down" for this one.
