Bob Breck on Fox8 in New Orleans says...
..that if New Orleanians have plans to go to Disney World/MGM this weekend to not change your plans and go ahead and go. He's leaning on the likelihood that the storm will curve Northward east of Florida and not effect land. He's the local hurricane guy here in New Orleans since the late '70's. Have to admit I was surprised to hear him say this, but, he doesn't think it's going to hit Florida.

Not on the new track...anyway, we'll all find out soon enough. Breck has been notorious over the years as stating what he thinks, although, he does ALWAYS post the official NHC track, as well. I'll give Breck this much---he's usually right on far out forecasts. I don't know how, but, he usually is right. For those in Florida, I particularly hope he is right this time around. I know the last thing you guys need is another hurricane and I'm sure you all are praying it as far away as possible. In any event, as I said, he did tell New Orleanians to go to Orlando and to not be worried.

>>Hmmm, that is kinda interesting and in my opinion very reckless. Thats a bit presumptious to say when the NHC hasnt indicated that yet.
In the past, Breck has stuck with the NHC line and has gotten into fights with other local mets (Roberts and Milham) in newspaper forums and on air based on them giving out conflicting information. Last couple of years, he's gotten more bold. In the past, he'd only show "scenarios" but would stick to the official forecast. Since it's not a Louisiana threat, he can take more chances because he's not under fire. I wouldn't necessarily recommend people not change their plans yet though. That's a bit risky if cancellation refunds are unavailable after 'x' time.

Too far east? How far east are they?
11pm they have it making landfall on the SE FL coast but not that forinland. I think this will end up in the Gulf.

I use to watch Bob Breck and believe him....but after his alarmist statements with Ivan #1, 10:30 PM Tues night, the NHC was saying Mobile Bay, but Bob was saying, "It hasn't made that turn...getting scarey". 8:00 AM Wed morning....Bob was sounding the alarm, "Hasn't turned yet".. NHC was still saying Mobile Bay. The more I listened to him, the further I evacuated. Had I listened to the NHC or the other mets in New Orleans, I would have been much better off.
