What will the TN winter 2004-2005 be like?

#1 Postby lurkerinthemidst » Fri Sep 24, 2004 8:11 am

We will be moving to South East TN (Cleveland Area) at some point this coming winter. Was wondering what to look forward to. I know it's early. Just wondering.

I'm not a Met or even an amateur, but I lived for a time in Chattanooga (near Hamilton Place, just south and west of Cleveland). We have friends still in the Cleveland TN area.

I can tell you from my personal experience that you're likely to have frozen precipitation in some form or fashion at least once or twice. Depending on what kind of winter we end up with, it could be a lot, or a little.

The winter we lived in Chattanooga...we had a lot of smallish winter events that lasted a day or two. Largest event produced about 4"inches of snow, and it stayed on the ground for most of the week.

Cleveland is a really nice area, but it's not FL. There's quite a lot to do up that way....and I highly recommend the Chattanooga Aquarium, as well as Riverfest (a street festival in downtown--think it's in the spring). There's lots of lakes up that way, so good fishing and water skiing. Plus...if you need big-city life, Atlanta is about 1.5 hours away by car. Straight shot down I-75 to all Hotlanta has to offer!!

If you want to PM me about the area, by all means do....
