Hurricane Karl Advisory Number 32

Statement as of 11:00 am AST on September 24, 2004

...Karl racing northward...

At 11 am AST...1500z...the center of Hurricane Karl was located near
latitude 44.4 north... longitude 40.2 west or about 815
miles...1310 km... northwest of the Azores.

Karl is moving toward the north near 40 mph ...65 km/hr. A turn to
the northeast with some decrease in forward speed is expected over
the next 24 hours.

Maximum sustained winds are near 80 mph...130 km/hr...with higher
gusts. Some weakening is forecast during the next 24 hours...as
Karl continues to lose tropical characteristics.

Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 105 miles...165 km...
from the center...and tropical storm force winds extend outward up
to 405 miles...650 km.

Estimated minimum central pressure is 970 mb...28.64 inches.

Repeating the 11 am AST position...44.4 N... 40.2 W. Movement
toward...north near 40 mph. Maximum sustained
winds... 80 mph. Minimum central pressure... 970 mb.

The next advisory will be issued by the National
Hurricane Center at 5 PM AST.

Those tropical storm force winds extend out a long way. Still wish Karl would head a bit further east though. Scotland gets all the strong wind. :lol:

Persepone - are you getting Karl or Jeanne rips and tides? I'm confused.

And did you see what the sea brought into the Cape? A lost and confused 15 foot great white. Yikes. Ought to take the grand kids to see that one!
