and getting less so by the hour. That dry air has really done a number on her. From the looks of her right now, she has the satellite signature of a weak cat 1. The way the dry air is so effectivey dimenshed her, I suspect that she won't come ashore any stronger than Francis, probably weaker. Of course it really is anybody's guess right now. It'd be really nice if the NHC can overcome their oft admitted shortcomings on the intensity forecasts, because in my mind how strong a storm is/will be is just as important as where it goes.

this dry air intrusion theory is cool and all, but this storm has 48 hours in which to get its act together (if it is be a Cat 3 as some suggest)
the reasons for the weakening (upwelling, dry air) have been addressed and I would not dismiss this storm and you suggest...let's see what you think 24 hours from now, when the dry air is overcome and SSTs go up by 5 or more degrees

Don't forget the shear that NHC mentioned in their discussion...

Hmmmm.
I sure wouldn't worry about it. This storm will give us NOTHING close to what we had in Charley (here in Orlando/Kissimmee area) and even in Charley, as bad as it was, I didn't have any window damage. I would have felt better during the storm with all the things crashing around outside, if we did have them covered, but as it turned out, we were fine. People put boards up all over the place for Francis and she was a wimp for us here, anyway.
