Lol. Only problem with this is that the Eta model is one of the few that does not have an acronym for a name. It's named after the greek letter eta, which is the name given to the specific type of vertical coordinate the model uses.

And you are right, almost everything about the way the Eta model is set up, in my opinion, is suspect, although all in all, it still manages to be a good model for continental NWP.

NOGAPS is another global model, that like most others, has its good days and its bad days.

It's trusted enough by the NHC to always be taken
into concensus for forcasting purposes.

So yes, NOGAPS is pretty good. It wan't far off with Ivan for the AL/FL landfall. But again, each model has its good and bad days!
