Volusia County Schools cancels Friday/weekend activities
All athletic competitions, practices, extra-curricular activities and events are cancelled for Friday and throughout the weekend due to the hurricane watch posted for Volusia County. A voluntary evacuation is in effect with mandatory evacuations expected.
The extended day programs will remain open today. In addition, the schedule for schools with the Plus One program (one hour added to the school day) will remain unchanged.
The school district is continuing to monitor Hurricane Jeanne and will make further announcements regarding school schedules as more information is received.

Staying. Not sure if I will put plywood back up unless it strengthens to a Cat. 3 and continues a westerly direction at faster speed. This is a tough track for us over here because there's really no place for us to go besides completely out of state. Just like Ivan and Frances, it's a tough call about where is safe to go and where is not. I still have supplies out the ying yang and a generator with a 5 gal container of gas handy, so I feel I'm about as ready as I can be. The plywood would only take a couple of hours to put back up if need be.

I'm leaving Cape Canaveral shortly and staying at a hotel in Orlando. Hotel may end up being in the center of Jeanne's eye, but I'm not willing to gamble on landfall location at this point. Hotel has broadband internet in the rooms so hopefully I can continue checking here for all the expert advice.

Staying, as we always do. Got 3 kids and a dog so going anywhere is difficult if not impossible.
My husband refuses to put back up the boards we took down Wednesday on the first floor windows. 2nd floor windows are still boarded and will stay that way for now.
Hoping it's a weak storm when/if it gets here.
