Question about Savannah

Hey y'all--
My nephew is in his first year of college in Savannah. I know my big sister is going to be freaking out when she hears about this and will be calling me since she knows I stay up on the weather. So I can answer her inevitable question, what effects do y'all see Savannah getting from nasty Jeanne?

No, not in SAV. I'm 30 minutes from there. We might get some rain and some wind gusts but nothing to evac for.

If it comes in as a strong category 1, IMO, They'll evacuate the islands, and low lying areas, and trailer parks, etc. Otherwise, people downtown can just stay put. SCAD students downtown are in the safest place you can be...high ground...just wind and rain.

...I'm on skidaway island....under lots of trees....100 feet from the marsh...I could see us leaving on Sunday....wait and see....

Thanks, Coastal-GA! He is at SCAD. I haven't had a chance to visit Savannah, so I have no way to know what areas are low-lying and which aren't. I really appreciate your info.

I'm over in Georgetown. Pretty sure I know, but am I right in guessing we (Georgetown) could stay put? IF< IF, IF it were to be a strong Cat.1....

If a hurricane was going to affect the coastal islands they would evac. It doesn't take much for those barrier islands to go underwater during a hurricane. I think you'll be ok during this storm.
