Tom Terry says more west

#1 Postby toomuchwind » Fri Sep 24, 2004 4:22 pm

Tom Terry says he thinks the storm will go more inland (morewest after land fall) than the NHC forcast. What does the forum say.

"It's all about the HIGH" and he's right. The other models are trying to force Jeanne right into the High. it just doesn't work that way...

Tom Terry is local met in Orlando - Channel 9. He is very good and like some others, thinks the track MAY shift west.

Tom Terry is a local forcaster, who correctly predicted Charley's path and since is looked upon has the local weather genius.

Tom Terry is the chief meteorologist for the ABC affiliate in Orlando. In my opinion he is one of the better ones in communicating what is going on and the factors involved in forecasts. He is also not afraid to give an opinion.

As for more west, I have agreed with the Ortt/Cangialosi reasoning for awhile now.

I liked the way that he was gratuitous to the NHC track but he must have said "watch for a shift west" 20 times during his forecast..... so he showed the NHC, didn't bash them at all, but it was obvious he didn't agree with NHC 5pm track at all.

Seems it will stay so far south and west of here that they will drop the mandatory evacuation tomorrow. I am at least going to disregard that order even if they don't drop it. I ain't evacuating unless a consensus of tracks and pros on Storm2K change.

Yes he thinks it will be far south of the Orlando area. That will be great news for us if it pans out.Tom Sorrel has said since last night it will impact the Miami area and be 150 miles west of Tampa on Monday and a threat to the panhandle.(That is what he said last night)

A minute or two ago, he (Tom Terry) said the official forecast track from the National Hurricane Center may be "more to the west," not "a longer/more westward movement." -- the same thing I heard him say during the 5:00 PM hour.

Yeah, sorry. It's just that 150 miles west of Tampa pretty much means what it says. It's a point on the globe. That's where TT says it will be. on Monday.

Were you asking about what effects Tampa is going to get if that happens?

If the storm was 150 Miles from Tampa the storm would either be in the everglades or about 40 miles offshore east. He did not say that Orlando is out of the woods, a further south and west track would actual put Orlando in the wrong quadrant. It would have to track very south and have no northern component.
