NBC Ft Myers...
The Met on NBC now seems to be a bit more concerned for us over here on the West coast. He just said that he doesn't want ot thought of as calling wolf, but that we really need to watch this, and that the turn is very important to us, or we could feel hurricane strength winds right here in our backyard. So, it seems that maybe he is noticing the more SW trend as well.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Jeanne makes a SW move in the short term. However at some point she will be turned NW, N and then NE. The winds in the north-central GOM are already out of the SW at a pretty rapid clip. The only question is.....when?? Jeanne could conceivably follow a Frances-like pattern. She might make it into the extreme eastern GOM, but I think thats an outside chance....unless the trough slows or gets hung up.

Up hear in Missouri it seems the front has stalled. it is a little less humid though but it seems like its not pushing thru much. This month has been strange up here cause of the high. Its been warm and humid the whole month. Temps in the upper 80s when on average the 80s stop around sept 20. Although the nights have been getting cool the past couple weeks with lows in the 50s cause of less sunshine and shorter days.

It was Robert VanWinkle, the new chief meteorologist at NBC-2. He's great, not an alarmist but doesn't blow everything off like Jim Syoen-very middle of the road but calls it as he sees it.
Since there are local Naples people here, did you know we are under a hurricane warning in Collier including Naples according to the NWS website? I just posted on another thread. Here's the site:

If the trough stalls, that spells big trouble for Florida. When I looked at the WV imagery this morning, the trough did not seem to be stalled, although it certainly is taking its time. It appears that the energy associated with the trough is lifting well NE, which could explain the trough's slow speed. Nothing to really shunt it westward very rapidly.

I'm with you Tracy!!!! I still think it's coming closer to us than is currently being predicted. I just don't see that front moving in in time to push Jeanne N/NW before she gets well into FL or even into the GOM. Certainly a direct hit here is very far from the realm of reality but I think we could be in for a good ride ala Charley.
Charleycat: Did you follow the link? In your opinion is the NWS website wrong? No, although I've lived in Naples for over 30 years, I didn't go to school here. Do the math-I'm old enough to be your mother!!!! LOL
