For anyone who isn't sure - here's the zone map for Miami-Dade county:

with that ridge remaining strong, all it would take is a slight south wobble and the eyewall comes in North Dade.

Not to mention the fact that hurricane force winds are out 45 miles. In Homestead, I'm about 44 miles from the Dade/Broward line (at Pro Player Stadium). The trop. storm force winds are 150 miles out. It wouldn't take much for Dade County to feel some of those strong winds, in my opinion.

I think the north wobbles will be outclassing any south wobbles. Even when the ridge started to take it, it didn't even move to the south much. I think this is yet another useless evacuation and hurricane warning for Miami-Dade county.

i have to agree....at least with the useless new orleans evacuation you had a cat 4/5 headed in that direction (linear extrapolation)....so i could see why they may want to ignore forecasts.

a cat 2 headed well north with offshore winds nearly guaranteed? wow....seems like someone is crying wolf too often.

IF the hurricane continues to move due west & does'nt deviate North Miami-Dade county receives hurricane force winds & the central portion of the county gets hurricane force gusts.

IF the hurricane takes just a few wobbles south before landfall north MIami-Dade county gets the southern eyewall.

What a stupid evacuation. We were just evacuated for *three days* for Frances, which ended up doing squat to us. Now, they want to evacuate us for a 100 mph storm they think is going to Cocoa Beach? If they keep this up, people aren't going to evacuate when it really *is* important.

But Lockhart, it's a roll of the dice. Wouldn't you rather be evacuated just in case it hits you directly? It's cheap insurance on your life.

100 mph now, but maybe 125 mph when the eye tracks over Brickell Key

hey dont evacuate..its not like they are going to take you out kicking and screaming...you can stay but you are on your own if conditions get bad.

Wondering what it would take for the "B" area to be added? Track south? Intensification? I'd be interested to know how they decide.

Reason: My boyfriend owns a home on the water in the "B" area and is reluctant to evacuate, ever.

Don't know inotherwords - I live in Zone B, and I'm planning on staying unless the path drastically shifts south, personally.

My guy is in N. Miami, which is, I think, probably more exposed than Homestead or Rickenbacker Causeway area. He's right near Haulover in Biscayne Bay.
