You might be from Florida...for a laugh

#1 Postby beachbyrd » Fri Sep 24, 2004 11:22 pm

I have not posted much, but have really found this board useful in dealing with my first hurr season here in SFL.....I moved here last October, from SoCal...

I received this from a friend today and thought some might be able to use a little laugh.... :D

You might be from Florida if:

-You exhibit a slight twitch when introduced to anyone with the first names of Charley, Frances, or Ivan.
-You watch the weatherman on TV all day.
-You're looking at paint swatches for the plywood on your windows, to accent the house color.
-You refer to your hall closet as your "safe room".
-Your pool is more accurately described as "framed in" than "screened in"
-You no longer worry about relatives visiting during the summer months
-You’re used to not hearing back from the insurance adjuster
-You now understand what the "2% hurricane deductible" phrase really means
-You have FEMA’s number on speed dial on your phone.
-You also have Home Depot’s, Lowe’s, your insurance agent’s, and a roofing company’s number on speed dial on your phone.
-Your street has more than three " NO WAKE" signs posted
-You now own five full gas cans.
-Your parrot can now say" hammered, pounded and hunker down"
-You recognize people in line at the gas and plywood locations
-You stop what you're doing and clap and wave when you see a convoy of power company trucks come down your street
-You're depressed when they don't stop
-You just picked at fight at a gas station
-You're considering upgrading from a 16" to a 20" chainsaw
-You know what "Bar chain oil" is
-You look forward to discussions about the merits of hurricane preparedness
-Your therapist refers to your condition as "generator envy"

This might be an apt thread to post a clip of the song that's been going through my head for two days now as I try to make sure I pronounce the name of this hurricane correctly...

The Jean Genie lives on his back
The Jean Genie loves chimney stacks
He's outrageous, he screams and he bawls
Jean Genie let yourself go!
