Um did I say only 105 mph winds? And that shear would play a factor? And that the temps weren't warm enough... boy was I wrong...

Well, JEANNE SHOWED ME!! Strong in the Dark Side of the Force is she...

Those deep greys inside the whites are below -80C... literally off the chart.

Yes. Jeanne looks to be going through a rapid deepening phase. Next recon Vortex will tell us alot. Once again, if you are in an evacuation zone the time to leave is now (I'm begging).

Dvorak estimates are 5.5/5.5. That is 102kts, Cat 3.

I'm in a bit of a panic so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Siobhan

When you look at the IR and DVORAK.. you see the dark purple right? That means that Strengthening is occuring. Yes, it is getting stronger. Yes, the windfield may be expanding some.

We need to see if this is a long term trend; the storm is going gangbusters in its southwestern quad. This could be temporary, of course, but it's really going to town right now and looking better than I've seen it look to date. The next few hours should be really interesting to watch.

As for track, go with what the NHC has been pumping out. If you're in the cone, be prepared.

Did anyone hear something about 300 (maybe they meant 200) tropical storm force wind force? Like 300 miles out..maybe 150 each way, hmm, stupid news and errors maybe...

Judging from that satellite IR photo...
all of Florida should be evacuated

Maybe you heard that tropical storm force winds extend 200 miles from the center (100 miles or more on each side). That's been true.

Remember, if you are not in an evacuation zone sometimes it is safer to stay. We don't want another Opal situation breaking out. This thing could very well explode and everyone try to leave at the same time. This would be disasterous, because people would likely get caught on the road.

Crap - it's like already THERE. Is there really going to be any time for people to put up shutters Saturday a.m. (who didn't already) in Central Florida (inland).. before it gets too windy and weird to?
