Brevard County Going? Staying?

I am rethinking my decision to stay. Been calling around all morning. Looks like the shelter is the only option left. Anyone else changing their minds?

Good morning, Windsong! I totally understand your predicament. I know many people that are staying on Merritt Island (and the beach for that matter). Unfortunately, other than a Brevard shelter, the only hotels possibly available are in Orlando (where I am) which puts you in the eye path.

How did your house hold up in the past storms? Is it concrete block? Does your yard/street flood easily? Not suggesting you stay by any means, but I'd ask myself those questions if I was on the Island. (In case anyone from the beaches is reading: LEAVE NOW.)

Seabrz, I hope you are safe as well. Yes, I have a CBS house, and no, not in an area that normally floods. The winds are already brisk. I am glad to see you are in Orlando even though the eye is going there. That has to be safer than on the beaches in Brevard.

Good luck to you, and I hope your home is safe when you return. As for me, I am waking up the guys soon and giving it my best shot at heading for the shelter.

huh?



smokin is saying if you stay (which it appears you have decided against this) and have to crawl into an attic because of rising water...take an axe to hack your way out of the roof in case the water comes in there, too, or risk having no way to get out and drowning.

If you haven't left by now, it's too late(unless your just going to a local place like a shelter or a friend or relative), and if your going there, you should leave as soon as possible since the squalls will reach the coast during the next few hours.
