I wish everyone in Florida

#1 Postby mobilebay » Sat Sep 25, 2004 2:40 am

the very best with Jeanne. I just wen't through Ivan and I know it is a very stressful time. Please, I'm begging anyone that has been orderd to evacuate to do so. I don't think I can stand any more stories of people loosing their lives because they would not evacuate. Remember, there is no material thing worth loosing your life over. If your thinking about staying, please read the stories from Hurricane Charley, and IVan. Both had people die, when they had been asked to evacuate. Please do the right thing for yourself and your family. I have a feeling this is going to be a very dangerous hurricane at landfall. Don't wait till it's on your back door step! I do wish all in Jeanne's path the very best.

My power was off for only two days and I thought it was the end of the world. You take things for granted that you have everyday. I remember for two days I would go around flipping light switches only to remember the powewr was off. Then at night you would be so hot, you could not sleep. Believe me, I will never take the little things for granted again. I only did without power for TWO days. Some people will go six weeks. Ouch.

Nothing is more valuable than life itself. My grandmother's friend in Vero thinks it is a hassle to evacuate. She puts up quite a fight. However, I don't think she will fight this time. If not for herself, I hope she would at least think of her family and friends who love her. Please everyone stay safe and don't take chances!! Sending our thoughts and prayers for everyone in this thing's path.

It's been a while since I posted over here (been very busy with the hurricane season at http://www.pro-weather.com), but it must have been a terrible year so far, may as well never take the wooden boards down. I hope you are all safe with Jeanne...

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I have relatives in Ft. Lauderdale, Merritt Island, Tittusville and Jacksonville....I have and will say some more prayers. The power of prayer is amazing and the more folks who pray for safety, the better it will be.

Siobhan222 remember Our Lady of Prompt Secure (sp)......she can help add some influence! (You sounded Catholic) :)

The best of luck to all of you and stay safe. And it bears repeating, please evacuate if your are told do so. WKRG 5 out of Mobile had story of wife would not leave her home, so husband stayed with her. The husband was standing at the door and got swept away with the surge, he managed to hang on to something and when he could he went back to look for his wife.......they found her body 1/4 mile down the road. PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!!

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and well wishes. These last 45 days starting with Hurricane Charley in mid August have been very, very trying, but we (Floridians) will get through this as we have before. This just makes it a little easier to know that people truley care and that we are in their thoughts and prayers. Thank you again for all your support :D

Take care and don't forget that people will be coming to help you. You will not be alone. We had a tremendous outpouring of love and kindness that I never expected to see in Pensacola. Please be safe!

Many thanks. This is going to be a mess for a whole bunch of people who are already completely stressed out and in various stages of recovery from previous storms. Talk about being hit when down!

Good luck, everybody!

Hang in there everybody, let's get through one more safely and then hopefully we can rest.

One thing for sure, after getting through this season I will tell people "Yes I'm a Floridian, and damned proud of it!" Everyone has pulled together wonderfully through this.
