SE Fla..The Luckiest Place On Earth

#1 Postby Guest » Sat Sep 25, 2004 12:45 pm

Yet another storm manages to avoid the Gold Coast &/or provide just minimal effects..Truly amazing for an area with such a rich hurricane history..Nots so lucky have been the folks just up the road however.

Good luck to them!

I have good freinds that live in Ft Pierce in a mobile home no less.

I live in SE Florida and expect to get directly impacted. N PB County is about 40 miles south of where Jeanne will hit if it maintains the N of due W heading. My area will be getting at least hurricane force winds with sustained of 100 + perhaps. I hardly call it being spared.

Could have been worse for some of us if it maintained its bearing on 26.5,
Lucky for some and horrific for others who will get a 2nd direct strike.

& though I mispoke your area is still not going to get the worst of it & I seriously doubt you will get sustained 100 MPH winds if this WNW track continues..

Hate to say it, but if I could choose it's landfall, I'd take it into Broward here where I am. Why? Because those poor folks up there are already in deep trouble. Example: my sis lost half the shingles on her roof during Frances and it's leaking pretty badly.

I don't like to wish it on anyone, but geez - how much can one community take.

excuse me - it took this same path with frances and we had 80-90 mph here! with that wnw track!
you know, i understand you don't want it to hit those you know north of us, but you could leave it out of your tone with those of us that are in the path palm beach area, no matter where we are. the path is large!

If you're talking about Ft Lauderdale/Miami etc.
Yea, lucky with no hurricanes. but I'd rather have the hurricanes than have to live there and deal with the traffic etc on a day to day basis.

But always remember if it misses your area, some one else is going to take a hit. This state (Fla) is a disaster area for sure.

Anytime you can avoid the eyewall of a major hurricane you are relatively lucky.

80-90 & 115-130+ is a major difference.

Shouldn't people in the WPB area have evacuated? I guess not...
