Everyone in here is bit*%ing about NW turn not a NW turn...look at the radar..ignore the sattelite.....what the hell????????
This is a FLORIDA HURRICANE....not just WPB...or MELBOURNE...or JACKSONVILLE.....THIS IS A HURRICANE OF MAJOR CONCERN STATE WIDE except for extreme S FL ...the Keys and the western Panhandle

ask Sanibel how much a small wobble matters. Hel ives on Sanibel island, which was DIRECTLY in the path of CHarley, but was spared at absolutely the last hour as CHarley jumped just 10-15 miles north. That little movement made the difference between Sanibels house surviving, and Captiva island getting obliterated. Movement mattersm its just that at this stage, drawing a straight line from current movement wont usually lead directly to the landfall site. Even right offshore the storm may move a bit north or south of where people are sure landfall will be. All it takes is a bit of wind displacement and differentiation after hitting land for the entire storm to shift enough to spare something that was directly in its path. Nature's funny that way.

But Innotech is right, the wobbles mean much more to those in the direct line of fire than anyone else, so it's natural that people are going to get fired up about them.

But Innotech is right, the wobbles mean much more to those in the direct line of fire than anyone else, so it's natural that people are going to get fired up about them.

but in this case, the wobbles are in upper layers, and so where the eye appears on satellite isnt necessarily where the eye that will actually affect land is, which is seen on radar. It is very confusing watching several sources as to storm motion, but general rule is radar will tell you where the storm is really going to hit, but satellite gives an approximation and clues of future movement. Satellite should NOT be used for direct planning purposes because of htis and NHC directly states that on the display.

Hey, just ask ME!! When Ivan zigged east a hair, that wobble saved the house I spent 2 yeares rebuilding! A small twister pruned the sweet gum 15 feet from my back porch and destroyed the tin on the barn 100 feet away.. I have plenty to be thankful for. And Ivan zigged after he made landfall!
