now Sanibel insists that Jeanne is in reurve....
my definition of recurve is....the thing totally turns N or NE and does not directly strike the FL coastline...
so if THAT is your forecast, so be it...otherwise, any landfall would not be considered a recurve, as most people's perception of RECURVE is a storm that darts away and leaves the coast relatively unscathed..
otherwise, put a sock in the recurve talk, unless your official call is out to sea at this poiny with no FL landfall..

Sanibel is a strong-minded and determined to be out front. He is trying to call the exact frame where the entire recurve begins. He may be right, but there's nothing to expect it not crash into S-central Florida coast.
I think Derek's forecast is valuable. He's been consistent and close as anyone. IMO.

A strengthening cat 3 vs a weakening cat 3......faster mover too. Will this be worse than Ivan? I suspect the surge may not be but the widespread wind damage will. Is there any place for her to miss or is the entire Melbourne to Palm Beach area densely populated/constructed? How about Vero Beach.....I think they get the worse. How does that area compare with the Orange Beach to Pensacola corridor that bore the brunt of Ivan?
I have a bad feeling about this one being worse than may be expected.
