Melbourne Radar - Jeanne starting to bomb

Refresh and make sure you get the last couple of frames. Notice all the banding developing on the east side of the storm. Also the eye is almost perfectly circular.

Absolutely no way to tell this by radar. Of course as the storm gets closer the radar signature will improve, especially on the far side.

East side of the storm is shielded by convection between site and eye. djtexillini is correct. Back side has been there all along, just coming into range as it nears.

From the radar presentation it looks like she's slowed noticeably, and is quite symmetrical right now.

Unfortunately, the combination of those factors is really not good news. It's starting to look like West Palm is going to get hit by the left side of the eye, while Fort Pierce may get the right side.

Hold onto your hats, people. You are in for a very bumpy ride.

Maybe everyone will get lucky, and the slowing is signalling an immediate turn to the right...

I think Ft Pierce gets the very middle of the eye...Vero Beach gets north side of wall. Definitely bobbling north of west and the northward component should increase slowly.

Overall, the strom is starting to look exceptional on radar. Eye definitely better organized. Look out, people.

Yeah, Jeanne's a MUCH more organized and intense storm than Frances. This one is almost surely going to be a lot worse.

I bet everyone just LOVES to hear that. Couldn't hurricane season be over, like yesterday?

Some were saying a slowdown precedes a turn (or recurve  )...

Just checked the long range loops out of Melborne and Miami and both show a near dead west movement. I think Jeanne will move a little left of the NHC track. Is a GOM emergence in the picture?....MGC
