Interesting comment from Melbourne WS re: inner eyewall

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Interesting comment from Melbourne WS re: inner eyewall

#1 Postby ColinD » Sat Sep 25, 2004 4:30 pm

AS THE INNER MOST HURRICANE EYEWALL MAKES LANDFALL...DESTRUCTIVE HURRICANE FORCE WINDS GUSTS WELL IN EXCESS OF 100 MPH WILL OCCUR. TORNADO WARNINGS WILL BE ISSUED FOR THE INITIAL EYEWALL THREAT ABOUT ONE HOUR BEFORE LANDFALL. BY THIS TIME...ALL RESIDENTS SHOULD HAVE MOVED TO THE MOST SECURE LOCATION POSSIBLE IN THE INTERIOR OF THEIR SHELTER. ADDITIONAL EYEWALL TORNADO WARNINGS MAY BE ISSUED FOR INLAND AREAS.

Yes, interesting.
I'll keep my eyes open for their further statements.

This is why I don't respond to posts heckling me about "No official source talks about any second eyewall". These persons don't show up when the quotes backing me appear...

Why would they automatically issue a Tornade Warning?

I'd also like to point out that a second obvious flat edge to the west side of the storm over Florida appeared on the frame before this recurve that is presently happening occurred...

This says inner eyewall...I think they meaning the inside of the eyewall... don't see them saying there are concentric eyes here :)

P.S. Sanibel ... I wasn't heckling you in the other thread ... just disagreed and kindly asked for more info to understand where/why you got your point of view from. And hope you understand that even if I disagreed with your point of view ..didn't mean your thoughts didn't have any value or I was shooting you down or anything. I would hope people who disagree with my points would say why and give more info. How I learn about the weather. Also, it's kinda fun to see others ideas/thoughts. :) Just wanted to clarify.

Sanibel...I'm surprised at you...you are normally on top of things.

Based on your definition of "recurve" I could technically say Georges was in recurve when he was a tropical depression...

I suggest for future reference that "recurve" be a more apt word once a storm starts moving at 295-300 degrees....275 degrees is a normal, easterly steering current course.

Because a Category 3 is like a 25 mile wide F? tornado. I couldn't find it right off but I think it was F1 or F2 at Category 3. Whatever - it's a tornado.
