#1 Postby tallbunch » Sat Sep 25, 2004 9:26 pm

Our weather people are just out there. Whay should I expect for weather on Monday. Right now they are just calling for a little rain.
Any wind? i'm worried they will cancel school and I have to work. Thanks in advance.

Be cautious and watch for tornadoes because we'll be on the SE quadrant...but then again, the NHC is forecasting her as a depression so maybe not much at all...only minor wind and rain.

I heard that we may have severe storms ect plus tornadic activity. So hold on, this is gonna be a LONG HARD ride for the entire east coast.

I'm not a forcaster, but I'm guessing 30 to 40 mph wind gusts. We'll probably be under tornado watches tomorrow or Mon.
My dh is a deputy on HHI and he was taken off of standby this afternoon so the officials here are assuming all will be ok. However, the Weather Channel showed a graphic of our area having power outages.
I feel so bad for all of the Floridians being affected by these canes. It seems so unreal.
As for school here on Monday... Hmmm, I bet it will be cancelled.

Remember Gaston was a TD but spawned 18 twisters in SE VA not to mentiond dumping a foot and a half of rain on Richmond. Even if it's a TD Jeanne will most likely spawn many tornados on her way up the east coast. Not going to be pretty.

Tallbunch-I live on HHI (if you were asking me). I think by tomorrow afternoon, we'll have a much better idea of what to expect on Monday, but then again, Jeanne has been so unpredictable at times!

tallbunch, you sound very excited about the prospect of school being cancelled.
Me too. :moon: , CofC President Higdon!!
But all for not. That stubborn yankee has no idea about hurricanes(or tropical systems and and their aftermath). When Gaston came through, EVERY SINGLE SCHOOL except for CofC cancelled, but not the College of Knowledge. Idiot. All the students did was get in the way of clean-up. I know I'm having class...

chilly, I'm not excited at all if they close the schools. That leaves me with having to go to work without a babysitter. What a nightmare that is.!!

They call off schools for everything here. They called off school for Charley and we did not get anything but sun. They call off schools if it's to cold and has a "chance" of snow. It's a nightmare when you have 3 children in school and have to work full time. It's a complete and total nightmare trying to find a babysitter in 30 minutes.

North Virginia where I live saw tornadoes from IVAN. There was a tornado right in Woodbridge on Hoadly Road not far from where I live!!!!!!!!

I am just SICK to death of these hurricanes!! When they go over the Mid Atlantic, even in a greatly weakened state, they tend to spawn tornadoes!

GO AWAY JEANNE!!! GO AWAY!! GO AWAY!!

Seems sometimes they have to close public schools because they decide to open up some shelters using public school buildings. Even if the storm doesn't hit, the schools are tied up and I guess it takes time to get it back to being school ready...although I am not quite sure why. The weather forcasts for this area have been rather conflicting. One local station will say it will be really nothing but a bit of rain. Another will hype it up to be a bit more. And then if you look at Accuweather, they have like 60-80mph winds for this area on a graphic they have up about the far reaching effects of Jeanne. I also saw TWC graphic about power outages being likely here. Strange all the conflicting forcasting going on.

The Accuweather Met on Fox said for people on the EC all the way up to NE should not let their guard down because it will merge with an approaching cold front and that could serve to really energize the system as it works it way up the EC.
