Florida and 4 Hurricanes

#1 Postby Sean in New Orleans » Sun Sep 26, 2004 1:34 am

How long do you all think it will take Florida to bounce back from this incredibly deadly and devastating hurricane season? Many parts of the State are totally devastated by these systems. When will Florida get back to normal? Will it ever? Will structures destroyed be allowed to be rebuilt on the water again? Will the legislature pass new laws in regards to building codes and mobile home parks? This will be interesting to watch. How long will Florida's economy be badly hurt and bruised? Will people move? There are so many delicate, yet serious, questions that need to be asked and answered. I wish Florida the best.
I'm beginning to think that Congress needs to pass a "Florida Bill," to address this historical Summer and the hurricane devastation this State has endured---some type of bail-out for the State.

That is a tough question to answer. You become adapted to the damage and cahnges very quickly and a "new normal" is created. The recovery is VERY quick in some aspects and will be very slow in others.

Creative solutions and new views on life and living will be blended with what was "normal" before thsi Hurricane season to create something new.

Well, I do think, that after this season, serious questions will be asked and we could be looking at long range plans with major changes for Florida when it comes to hurricanes. This season has been a bit much and hopefully, some good will come out of it...
