I'm interested in reading reports on storm conditions from those of you in the Tampa Bay area. Be safe.

It is certainly crappy here in Bradenton. 30 - 40 sustained. Gusts I would guess up to 50 - 60 mph.

Currently winds are sustained at 40-50mph with some gusts near hurricane strength...eye just east of the Tampa Bay area awaiting hurricane sustained winds. Very heavy rainfall... Wind gusts earlier in the Lakeland area reached 75 mph. Still have power but do not know for how long. Holding on!!

Gulf beach, on the bay, the bay water has white caps with about 3 ft waves.
Water level is about 3 feet below the seawall.
Real windy with strong gusts.
Not much rain at all.

This location is on the south end of Longboat Key, across the bay from Sarasota. Much worst than Frances already with 7-8 hrs to go.

Tribune just delivered the paper and it was gusting with light rain. I felt like Mary Poppins about to take off.

Let me trty again....Just ready to hit send & my power flickered. Rainy here in St Pete with 30 or so winds, higher gusts. Only one power flicker so far. Two of my cats have taken their own initiative & taken shelter under the kitchen sink.

I just wanted to say I'm so glad I come here & read all the posts. I know the NHC is the main source, but here was the only place Fri & Sat that was mentioning on a regular basis that Tampa could be affected.

In South Tampa, there have been some gusts, throwing trees around quite a bite, but nothing at all impressive, at least yet.
